Winter holiday in the Lake Fuschl Region
In winter there’s something for everyone to enjoy whether it be a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, a spin on the 170m-long snow-tubing lane, an afternoon on the thrilling natural toboggan run on the Schafbach Mountain or a ski course in one of the Lake Fuschl Region ski schools. A real highlight is being able to ice skate on the frozen lake just in front of the hotel. Fuschl am See’s proximity to Salzburg, the Salzkammergut Lake District and to Bavaria means that a whole host of activities and excursions are easily accessible.
Ski areas in the region
The Fuschlsee region offers everything from small individual lifts to the Gaissau-Hintersee ski area. Families with small children and ambitious skiers and boarders alike will find the best conditions with us for an unforgettable day on our slopes. At the Hintersee Hans Gassner ski school, with state-certified ski instructors and mountain guides, you are always in good hands as a beginner and professional.
Postalm ski area: 40 minutes by car from Fuschl. Slopes are easy to moderately difficult. 5 drag lifts. 20 km cross-country ski run. Attractive high plateau for cross-country skiers, hikers and skiers.
Cross-country skiing paradise
With over 130 kilometres of excellently prepared cross-country trails the Lake Fuschl Region has managed to make a name for itself in the world of Nordic sport. In cross-country village Faistenau also the service off the trail is optimal. For the serious, as well as the nature-oriented cross-country skiers, standing next to the stunning winter landscape also ample parking, changing rooms, showers / WC, ski rental and preparation room.
138 km cross-country skiing – classic and skating:
Faistenau (54 km) tip: Dorfloipe, evening Nachtloipe 4,8 km
Fuschl (18 km) tip: Bambichl-Perfallloipe 8km – use is free
Thalgau (21 km) tip: Forest trail classic and skating 6,5 km and dreamlike panoramic trail 7,5 km at Thalgauberg in Wasenmoos Hochmoor
Hof (15 km) tip: classically and skating trail
Hintersee (12 km) tip: Dorfloipe 7km
Ebenau (11 km) tip: Romantic mill trail 4,2 km
Koppl (5 km) tip: Zaunmoos Loipe in the town center
Toboggan runs in Fuschl am See: After a cozy break in our pastures we go with the sled to the valley. The laughter of sledders echoes through the forest and makes you want to take the next exit. Illuminated toboggan run in Waldhofalm in Fuschl am See, artificial snow (length: about 400 meters).
Snow tubing in Faistenau: Uphill we go with the newly built drag lift, downhill at a phenomenal rate in the 170-meter-long snow channels. Located a short walk from the village square in Faistenau see the snowtubing – Bahn. 50 tires (Tubes) are available. And if it gets too cold outside – in Asi’s Tubinghütte it can be with food and drink have a chat. For night owls there are floodlights which to 21h in operation generally weekdays by reservation and Friday and Saturday.
Horse-drawn carriage ride through the Fuschlsee Region:

Good equipment and perfect powder snow are all need before you set off through the romantic countryside in and Fuschl am See. Guided snow-shoe walks are organised once a week or on request. You will need an average level of fitness and warm and comfortable sports wear the rest, snow-shoes and poles, can be hired at the Tourist Office in Fuschl am See.
